Gatiss and Moffat said that this could not be done at the moment as the duo is busy with some other projects which include the Dracula series. This could be the reason why BBC has not confirmed the Sherlock season 5 yet. Fans feel that Benedict Cumberbatch will return to reprise his role as he recently teased that he would never give up on his Sherlock Holmes character.

Nobody has ever closed the door on Sherlock – we just say the same thing all the time, and it gets quoted different ways.
